Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” Jesus gives an incredible invitation for all children to discover the joy of being loved, accepted, and cared for. As United Methodists, we offer the sacrament of baptism to all, from the newborn to adult. A child is baptized as a sign of the grace that is always before us, and parents and guardians make promises to raise that child in the ways of God. When children are old enough to understand more fully the Good News of Jesus Christ, we bring them through a Confirmation Class into full membership of the church.
Nursery for Infants and Toddlers
A loving nursery is provided for infants and toddlers on the first floorn the lower level of the church building during Sunday school and worship.
Preschool Sunday School Class - Sprouting Acorns
The 3, 4 and 5 year old girls and boys of Oak Lawn UMC enjoy a fun filled hour of singing energetic Bible songs, listening to a special Bible lesson and creating things to take home and share with their parents that they have learned in Sunday School.
Our focus is building a foundation of knowledge about the "Big" stories of the Bible, learning about God's great love for us, and finding out how even little children have important places in God's world.
This fun class is always open for new friends who are 3, 4 or 5 years old to join us. Sunday School begins each week from 10:15-10:45 a.m. after Angel Voices Choir practice from 9:45-10:15 a.m. The classroom is located on the lower level of the church building.
Elementary Sunday School Class
The elementary age children of Oak Lawn UMC enjoy an hour of learning about the Bible in a creative way. Our focus is creating relationships and an open environment for the children to engage with God's Word.
This wonderful class is always open for new friends who are elementary age to join us. Sunday School begins each week from 10:15-10:45 a.m. after Angel Voices Choir practice from 9:45-10:15 a.m. The classroom is located on the third level of the church building in the Youth area.
Youth Sunday School Class
What does the Bible say about OUR lives? In our Youth Sunday School class, we do many different things and have many different studies. Our Sunday School hour is a great time where we catch up with each other, find out how our weeks went, share our prayer concerns, and grow deeper in our faith as a group. All youth, grades 7 to 12, are welcome and encouraged to join us at 9:30 am up on the third floor in the Youth Room.
